Francis Mwangi works at Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) as a CivilEngineer. He is involved in the development of the first Smart City in East and CentralAfrica and the first one in Africafrom a greenfield. Previously he worked in Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi in various Civil, Structural and management roles. Previous key projects include the Dry Port in Kigali, Kampala Sewer line rehabilitation and extension and a Research Hospital in Burundi. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Diploma in project management from Kenya Institute of Project Management, Specialized training in Mechanics of Project Finance from Middlesex University of London (UK) and currently pursuing a Master of Science in Project Management from University of Liverpool, UK. He has also undertaken training in FIDIC modules and Construction Law with key emphasis on Claims and Dispute Adjudication Boards.
He is registered with Engineers Board of Kenya, Institute of Engineers of Kenya, Institute of Engineers of Rwanda, Institute of Directors Kenya (Corporate Member), Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (current FL Chair) and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Structural Engineers Institute. He has a passion for leadership and capacity building for the local content.
