Speaker Bio
Biography - Andrea specialises in construction and tender law, with a specific focus on complex energy (on- and offshore wind, solar (floating, ground mounted and rooftop) and tidal energy), circular economy, utility, water(safety), infrastructure and other construction projects; projects with challenges preventing these from being realised within planning, budget & without disputes using traditional construction contracts and relations. She has a wide range of experience in both construction advising employers (including national governments), investors, lenders and contractors on projects. In Andrea’s view construction contracts should be seen as more than merely a way to determine how to deal with projects gone sour. Rather these should be primarily used as a tool to ensure a fitting collaboration between parties & stakeholders (and individuals on their behalf) to meet project goals. To boost the application of such approach, Andrea has co-initiated and co-authored the development of the new early contractor involvement (bouwteam) model 'DG2020' with platform DuurzaamGebouwd/Bouwgenootschap, which model is being used on a range of projects. She has experience with early contractor involvement (bouwteam), alliancing (alliantie), NEC3/NEC4 and DFBM(O) contracts. Andrea did her bachelor and masters at the Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands, with a semester at Universität Bonn in Germany. She graduated from the post-academic Law Firm School with honours. Andrea is currently a member of the editorial board of the Dutch Construction Law Review (Tijdschrift voor Bouwrecht) & the Dutch board of the International Project Finance Association (IPFA). She regularly lectures on collaborative contracting & procurement for organisations such as Dutch Institute for Construction Law, PIANOo, CROW and PAO Delft.
