Mike Salawouis the Director of the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department at the AfDB in charge of the Bank's investments and dialogue in Transport (Road, Rail, Port, Aviation, Logistics and Urban Development) to improve national, regional, and continental connectivity to support trade (AfCFTA) and Regional Integration (Africa's Agenda 2063) and to meet the pressing needs of African urbanization. Mr. SALAWOU oversees a portfolio of infrastructure assets worth over USD 13 billion, covering both public and private sector projects in Africa. In this role, he also coordinates the Bank’s PPP financing solutions to infrastructure.

Prior to this, he was Manager for the Infrastructure and Partnerships Division at the Bank, NEPAD IPPF Special Fund Manager, Coordinator for the Infrastructure Consortium for Africa (ICA), a G7 created platform for mobilizing infrastructure investment in Africa. In addition, he steered the Bank's support to the AU on PIDA and represents the Bank in Global Infrastructure Partnerships, notably the G20 Infrastructure Working Group (G20 IWG), the MDB Infrastructure Collaboration Partnership (MDB ICP), the Global Infrastructure Facility (GIF).

He has totaled 22 years at the AfDB and has worked prior to the Bank for Société Générale Investment Banking in Paris and as Management Consultant in Copenhagen. He holds a M.Sc. in Economics and Finance from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark; a Master of Arts in International Management from CBS and HEC Paris; an Executive Master Degree in Development Policy and Management from Sciences Po Paris, France; and Harvard Kennedy School of Government Certificate in Trade Policy.
