Mr. Zoltán ZÁHONYI (1967) holds a degree of M.Sc. in Civil Engineering (Budapest, 1991) and a postgraduate degree in Law (Budapest, 2004). During his education years and in the very early period of his career he gained international experience in various civil engineering fields in a number of European countries (Austria, Germany, Iceland and Great Britain).

His first involvements with consulting engineering and FIDIC contracts took place in the early 1990-s. Zoltán played important role in spreading the use and practice of FIDIC Conditions of Contracts in Hungary – among others he is the translator of FIDIC 1999 Red Book, Green Book, and also 1995 Orange Book as well as White Book into Hungarian language.

Apart from providing consultancy services for Engineers, Employers as well as Contractors for major infrastructure projects, he has been involved in a number of Task Groups and the Contracts Committee of the International FIDIC organisation since 2007 (CC member from 2009, chair of CC between 2015 and 2019). He is an enlisted dispute adjudicator in Hungary and an accredited international FIDIC trainer. In addition to the 3-4 annual FIDIC courses in Hungary, he delivers various FIDIC trainings on the international scene (Latvia, Qatar, Nigeria, Nepal, the Philippines, USA, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, France, ASPAC, the Balkans, as well as online).

Most recently Zoltán has been working in his consulting engineers Ltd. (Z & Partners) involving 2 other, similarly experienced senior engineers to provide flexible engineering contracts advisory services, based on his and his partners wide ranging practical experience.
