HONOURABLE KWASI AMOAKO-ATTAH is the current Minister of Roads and
Highways of the Republic of Ghana and the Member of Ghana’s Parliament for the
Atiwa West Constituency in the Eastern Region.

He first served as the Minister for Roads and Highways from 2016 to 2020 during the
first term of H.E. President Akufo-Addo's administration. Owing to his hard work and
enormous achievements in the road sector during that period, H.E. President Akufo
Addo re-appointed him to head the road sector in 2021.

Prior to his appointment, the country had a total road network of 78,402km of which
23 per cent was paved and 77 percent was unpaved. Out of this 39% was in good
condition,32% was in fair condition and 29% was in poor condition.

Due to rapid urbanization and other factors, Ghana’s road network as inventoried
today stands at 94,203km, with 27% paved and 73% unpaved.

The road condition mix has also improved to 44% good, 34% fair and 22% poor.

Other major achievements during his tenure include the completion of 11,975km of
roads. These are through rehabilitation, partial reconstruction, major reconstruction,
asphalt overlay, etc.

During his tenure, 6 interchanges/overpasses have been completed, whilst 7 are
ongoing and 33 bridges over various rivers throughout the country have been
completed. All these are targeted at improving accessibility throughout the country
and improving on travel time.

Also, the Pokuase Interchange, the first 4-tier interchange in West Africa, received a
FIDIC award as the “Most Commendable Project of the Year” in 2022.

He has always ensured that the Ministry of Roads and Highways use the FIDIC
Conditions of Contract for all its major projects including the FIDIC Red Book for the
Pokuase Interchange, the FIDIC Yellow Book for the Obetsebi-Lamptey Interchange
and the FIDIC Silver Book for the Tamale Interchange. In all these projects, Hon.
Amoako-Attah acted as the employer and carried out the functions thereof.

Prior to his political career, Hon. Amoako-Attah had obtained rich and long working
experience with Unilever Ghana Limited, a multinational company where he worked in
almost all the subsidiary divisions at very senior levels as a Departmental Head in
Marketing, Sales, Logistics and Legal.

Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah holds B.Sc. in Administration from the prestigious University
of Ghana, Legon, an Executive Master’s in Business Administration from the University
of Ghana, Legon and a Professional Law Qualification from the Ghana School of Law.

He is an astute lawyer and a member of several Professional Associations such as the
Ghana Bar Association, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), Ghana
Institute of Management (GIM), and Institute of Personnel Management (IMP).

In the Parliament of Ghana, he serves on several committees including the Local
Government Committee, the Subsidiary Legislative Committee as well as the Public
Accounts Committee.

He is an active sportsman with a great interest in swimming and playing squash.

He is married to his beautiful wife Gloria with four children between them, three sons
and a daughter
