Stephane Giraud graduated from leading French engineering school “Arts et Metiers” (MSc Mech.&Elec.) in 1994 before completing an additional Master’s degree in Entrepreneurship from HEC, school of management (Paris) in 1995.

He is a Construction specialist, and has usually held the role of ‘FIDIC Engineer’ for large infrastructure projects such as dams and hydroelectric power plants (HPP), clean and wastewater treatment plants (WTP and WWTP), water networks and pumping stations. He is able to manage all aspects of large international water projects but has specialized in contract management and specifically for FIDIC contracts. He has been Resident Engineer, project manager and project director for many major construction projects in developing countries financed by International Financing Institutions such as WB / IFC, EU, ADB, EIB, EBRD, AFD, MCC, AfDB in more than 30 countries in Africa and Asia.

Until April 2021, he headed the ‘Dams & Hydraulic Works’ department (30 persons) at Egis, one of the world’s leading engineering consultancy firms. Since May 2021, St phane has been providing expert services and DAB missions as an independent expert on subjects relating to FIDIC contract management and arbitral tribunal (ICC), specialized on FIDIC rainbow suite of Contracts (mainly Red, Yellow and Silver Books Ed.1999 and 2017).

He was accredited as FIDIC Trainer in London in 2011, National FIDIC Adjudicator in Paris in 2012 and admitted on the President’s list of Adjudicator (Geneva, 2020): he is the first French native speaker to achieve these certifications. Stephane is also a lecturer in France ‘International Construction Contracts’ at the university of Pantheon-Assas (Paris).

He is a member of the ICOLD (International Commission of Large Dams).

He’s member of the FCL (Fidic Credentialing Ltd) Certification Board and created the new certification ‘FIDIC Certified Contract Manager’ (FCCM) in 2021.
