D.R.Shanthi is currently the Group sector head of the Transmission & Distribution (T & D) sector for the Power Business unit of TATA CONSULTING ENGINEERS LIMITED (TCE)
She joined TCE as a trainee in the Electrical department of Power Business Unit and has over 28 years of experience in design of Power plants. Worked in several large coal based and gas- based projects as a working engineer and developed as a specialist in control and protection. She became a project engineer and led many prestigious domestic and international power projects including 500 MW and 4000 MW (5 x 800MW) Ultra Mega power plants and 1100 MW combined cycle Power plants. She has worked on several Feasibility studies, Detailed project reports, Owner’s engineer, Architect’s engineer, detailed engineering and proposal engineering assignments.
She has trained several young engineers in the field of control and protection. Subsequently, took up the role of electrical team lead responsible for delivery of projects, standardization, competency building and resource management of electrical discipline. Further, she led the Renewable sector involved in both CAPEX and OPEX based Solar PV, Concentrated Solar Power, Battery Energy Storage, Wind and Hybrid projects.
