Graduated in the year 1983 in civil engineering from the University of Brussels, Belgium. The next year he landed a job for CGEE Alstom and Spie Batignolles on the project of the Cairo Metro (phases 1 and 2), and worked there for four years as a Site Engineer. In 1989, he joined the BESIX Group in the Belgian head office as a civil estimator for the International markets. He moved to Dubai in September 1992 to be in charge of the tender department for the GCC operations of BESIX-Six Construct. From here he was promoted to Deputy General Manager of Six Construct in 2003, and then finally to General Manager in June 2007.
Philippe DESSOY was instrumental in expanding Six Construct’s activities in the Gulf area to where it is today. Philippe Dessoy has helped spur Six Construct into becoming one of the most competitive foreign firms in the region. Large contract wins in the last few years has helped grow the firm’s reputation, as both a single main contractor and within a joint venture. The latter includes work on the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest structure, and Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi. As well as having a key part to play in the development of the region’s flagship projects, he was also responsible for all the operations of BESIX Group in the GCC, mainly Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Beginning 2014, Philippe Dessoy has been promoted as General Manager of BESIX Group, in the Head Office in Belgium, where he is in charge specifically of all Business Development activities worldwide. From April 2015, till September 2020, Philippe Dessoy has been President of the European International Contractors ( EIC ).
From April 2019, Philippe Dessoy has been elected as Senior Vice President of CICA ( Confederation of International Contractors ‘Associations ) and has taken the Presidency end of November 2022 for a term of 2 years. He so takes part in many meetings with institutions very active in the construction Field (Multilateral Development Banks, World Bank, FIDIC, OCDE, National and Regional Federations ).
