Building infrastructure remains a key priority in the region. The global sustainability agenda is impacting contracting and procurement and multilateral development banks have introduced rated criteria in procurement to enable sustainable procurement as well as enhance value for money. Increasingly, there is a demand that project design is aligned with the Paris Agreement requirements. The pipeline of projects is being driven by the urgent demand for climate-resilient infrastructure, with the cities facing challenges from rising water levels, increasing temperatures, increasing population putting pressure on infrastructure such as road, housing, sanitation and the availability of sufficient clean drinking water. These increased and varied challenges are opening up new opportunities for engineers, contractors and other project participants. It also highlights the need for innovative and technology-based approaches and solutions.
This session will look at the future of contracting to build sustainable projects, achieve net zero and deliver projects on time and on budget in ever-changing environment.
