The latest event in FIDIC’s annual series of webinars will focus on highlighting the work of FIDIC’s global member associations and the difference this makes to their member firms.
Showcasing FIDIC member associations takes place on Tuesday 24 June 2025 at 12noon CET and has been organised by the FIDIC Directors and Secretaries Advisory Council. The webinar will highlight some of the successful initiatives being undertaken by FIDIC’s global member associations which are making a positive difference to member firms. The event will particularly highlight effective advocacy using a number of initiatives that have been employed by three member associations to help enhance their lobbying and representational activities.
The webinar will be chaired by ACE New Zealand CEO and chair of the FIDIC Directors and Secretaries Advisory Council Helen Davidson. As well as introducing the topic and the speakers, Helen will also talk about the DNSAC toolkit that is currently under development to provide assistance and guidance to member associations in the work that they do.
Also speaking at the webinar is Liv Kari Hansteen CEO of the Norwegian Association of Consulting Engineers (RIF). Liv will talk about RIF’s engagement with ministers and parliament, sector-based lobbying and dialogue with clients, especially in the public sector. Her contribution will highlight how RIF influences national policy, using its State of the Nation report as a foundation, how they engage with their members and their clients to improve collaboration and procurement practices and details how RIF is positioning the consulting engineering sector as a forward-looking AI industry, not just a traditional one.
Martine Proulx from ACEC Canada will reflect on the recent Canadian elections and give examples of what ACEC did to intervene in that event. Invest in Growth is a high-impact digital campaign by ACEC-Canada that elevated infrastructure as a national priority during Canada’s 2025 federal election. Rapidly deployed in response to a snap election, the campaign empowered citizens and ACEC members to engage with political candidates using targeted tools and messaging. Anchored by a dynamic microsite and amplified across social media, Invest in Growth combined important policy advocacy with compelling storytelling, positioning consulting engineering at the heart of Canada’s future.
Finally, Rajiv Maini, director of the Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) will talk about the CEAI Compendium produced to mark the anniversary of India’s independence as a nation. The initiative won a FIDIC MA Excellence Award for Showcasing Value in 2024 and included a campaign that showcased the spectacular engineering accomplishments made in India since it gained its independence nearly eight decades ago. It also highlighted a roadmap for the consultancy of the future, demonstrating not only the progress made over that time, but also engendering a sense of pride to encourage the sector to strive to achieve even higher levels of excellence. The CEAI Compendium promotes the significant value that engineers bring to society and is an initiative dedicated to the spirit of the unsung Indian engineers who triumphed over formidable challenges.
After the speakers have spoken there will be opportunities for a Q&A with questions from the audience. The webinar should be useful to all FIDIC members and their members who will be able to gain useful advice, tips and insights into the value that MAs provide and the real difference they are making to their members on a global scale.
