The main conference is open to all participants.
The first day of the conference will include a keynote address from a high-profile speaker and five panel sessions on some of the key issues facing the industry and the world. These sessions will cover the following:-

Infrastructure investment – why there’s no time to lose;
Persuading the politicians – getting the industry’s message across;
Developing a customer-centred approach to infrastructure;
Leading the infrastructure revolution; and
Embedding sustainability at every level of the industry.

Day 1 will also include three forum discussion tables covering the key areas of Finance, Legal and risk management and Human capital. Day 1 will conclude with our popular Local Colour Night networking event, which will be at an additional ticket price.

These forums will be open for registration closer to the conference. Please note that spaces are limited, and these will be reserved on a first come first served basis.

Panel Session 1 - Global stakeholders roundtable discussion: Infrastructure investment – why there’s no time to lose.

Session to include: Why there is no time to lose and why the world needs urgent infrastructure investment. How can we make smarter investment decisions to make a real difference? Getting investment right - building more but building better, achieving ethical infrastructure. What role to international funding organisations have in speeding up infrastructure investment?

Potential questions to address in session: -

1. Why is the need to invest in infrastructure urgent and is this understood?
2. How can we make smarter investment decisions to make a real difference?
3. What does ethical infrastructure look like? How do we encourage it?
4. How do we get the right stakeholders around the table to make decisions?
5. What role do the international funding organisations have in speeding up investment?

Panel session 2 - Persuading the politicians – getting the industry’s message across .

Session to include: This session will look at how best can the industry engage with politicians and other influential opinion formers to get positive messages across about the need for infrastructure investment. How should construction and infrastructure companies look to influence politicians, governments and funders on the best routes to take for effective investment that makes a real difference to people’s lives? Also, given rising inflation, how can the industry help to keep costs down?

Potential questions to address in session: -
1. Is the construction industry engaging with politicians effectively?
2. How can the industry improve its lobbying and be more effective in getting its message across?
3. What does best practice influencing look like?
4. What do politicians and governments want to see from the industry in helping them make decisions?
5. In an inflationary environment, how can the industry help politicians by keeping costs down?

Panel session 3 - Developing a customer-centred approach to infrastructure .

Session to include: Client expectations are changing at pace with construction companies being asked to deliver and demonstrate increased value – financial and social – and be much more focused on client needs than ever before. Construction companies that are more predictable and can get it right first time will be better placed to be successful in the future. This session will look at how construction and infrastructure companies can develop a customer-centred approach that gives clients what they want and need while demonstrating value.

Potential questions to address in session: -
1. How can the industry develop a seamless and personalised approach focused on how to improve quality and whole-life costs to deliver better and demonstrable value to the client?
2. How can the industry improve predictability and reduce project delays?
3. Are clients engaged with ESG as much as they should be and is this affecting their expectations of those they work with?
4. What does best practice look like in this area?
5. How do we bring the whole supply chain on board?

Panel session 4 - Leading the infrastructure revolution.

Session to include: This session will look at the critical importance of leadership in delivering infrastructure and what this looks like, locally and globally and in all aspects of the industry value chain. How do we build good leadership in construction companies, across projects and in our future leaders to ensure that we deliver the infrastructure the world needs? The session will also highlight best practice examples of project leadership that have delivered for the client and end user.

Potential questions to address in session: -
1. What is good leadership and how do we encourage it in the industry?
2. What projects have shown good leadership and what have the outcomes been?
3. How can we build strong leadership across the supply chain while encouraging collaboration?
4. What is the role of clients in encouraging good leadership?
5. Are politicians, governments and funders encouraging strong leadership?

Panel session 5 - Embedding sustainability at every level of the industry

Session to include: Asset owners, clients, funders and investors are becoming much more focused on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues as they increasingly apply these non-financial factors as part of their analysis process to identify material risks and growth opportunities. As a result, the industry needs to make significant progress on decarbonisation, biodiversity and overall sustainability. This session will look at clients and funders’ expectations of consultants in driving net zero in infrastructure and identify how the need to address climate change will change our design assumptions and approach to risk in design.

Potential questions to address in session: -
1. Are clients sufficiently engaged in the sustainability agenda?
2. What are clients’ and funders’ expectations of consultants in driving net zero in infrastructure?
3. How will the need to address net zero change our assumptions and approach to risk in design?
4. What about the biodiversity agenda? How are we addressing that?
5. How do consulting engineers play a leadership role in this area?

Three forum discussion tables will take place during Day 1:
1. Finance Forum will discuss key and emerging issues facing CFOs and others working in the financial field;
2. Legal and Risk Management Forum will take a look at the latest key and emerging risk management and legal issues for legal directors, general counsels and others working in the field;
3. Human Capital Forum will discuss key and emerging people issues for HR professionals.
