Back in the 1800s, electricity distribution was a short-range business, driven by nearby DC generators. That changed in 1895, when the first facility to send high-voltage alternating current over long-distance transmission lines became operational. Yet most modern appliances use DC to operate and with developed, advanced emerging and emerging countries increasingly installing local renewables, considering battery storage (either as a separate entity or as part of vehicles) the question is - will DC systems make a comeback?  What a DC future might look like?
